OUR COMMITMENT

The 79th IIW Annual Assembly & International Conference on Welding and Joining is organized according to the principles of environmental, economic, and social sustainability. Aristea International S.r.l. has embarked on a path aligned with the ISO 20121 standard to promote responsible event management, aimed at reducing environmental impact and increasing the value generated for the host territory.
Our goal is to leave a positive legacy: for the community, for the participants, and for the future.

WHAT WE ARE DOING TO MAKE THE CONFERENCE MORE SUSTAINABLE

We integrate sustainable best practices at every stage of the event:

  • Venue: easily accessible by public transport and committed to environmental standards (low energy consumption, waste management, environmental certifications). During the event, the indoor climate will be monitored to ensure comfortable conditions while avoiding energy waste.
  • Transport: promotion of low-impact mobility solutions (venues reachable on foot or by public transportation).
  • Communication: exclusive use of digital tools (website, app, social media).
  • Registration: electronic registration and payment management, with the badge sent by email in digital format so participants can use it directly from their smartphones, avoiding printing.
  • Conference materials: badges made of recycled paper and lanyards made of PET (100% recyclable material) or other reusable materials.
  • Paper reduction: minimal use of paper thanks to digital communications, materials available online, and the event app. If printing is necessary, we use recycled or responsibly sourced paper, with limited print runs to avoid waste.
  • Catering: focus on seasonal and locally sourced food, with efforts to reduce waste. For coffee breaks and lunches, we use compostable single-use items where possible. Leftover food is donated to humanitarian organizations through the Food for Good project.

USE OF LOCAL RESOURCES

To support the local economy, we aim to select local suppliers whenever possible.

OFFSETTING EMISSIONS

To reduce the ecological footprint of the Conference, we calculate the CO emissions generated by transportation and key event activities. Where possible, we offset these emissions by purchasing certified carbon credits or supporting environmental projects.

INDICATORS AND RESULTS

As part of our commitment to sustainable event management, we will publish a brief report after the event summarizing the key environmental indicators currently monitored. At this stage, our focus is on:

  • Estimated CO2 emissions generated and offset (if applicable).
  • Ongoing efforts to expand data collection to other sustainability metrics such as waste management, energy usage, and sustainable mobility.

This process reflects our commitment to continuous improvement and transparency in line with ISO 20121 standards.

SUSTAINABILITY INVOLVES EVERYONE

The success of a sustainable event depends on everyone’s cooperation. That’s why we invite:

  • Participants, to take small daily actions to reduce environmental impact (waste sorting, using tap water, sustainable travel)
  • Suppliers, to offer their services in line with eco-friendly criteria
  • The host community, to actively participate and benefit from the event

TRANSPARENCY AND DOCUMENTATION

For clear and responsible communication, we provide the following documents:

  • Policy for Sustainable Event Management (download)
  • Post-event Report (available after the event)

LEAVE YOUR FEEDBACK

We are always open to suggestions that could help make the Conference more sustainable. If you come across anything that seems inconsistent with our sustainability principles, feel free to report it either in person or via our dedicated e-mail address: sustainability@aristea.com
